“In the early ’90s in Chicago, only two things were clear. We wanted to write and perform comedy, and we knew we would look better in our forties than we did in our twenties.” -Amy Poehler

So sweet. First of all that book is so hilarious. Always, Tina is always hilarious. She sent me the chapters like ‘hey, I wrote this thing. I just want to make sure you’re cool with it.’ And I was like ‘oh boy, what is this…’ because it could have been a lot of things. And, I read it and I was just like ‘cool with it, are you kidding?’ it was beyond, it was such a beautiful thing to write and often times when we were working together at SNL we would just look at each other like ‘we fooled them! how’d we do this? We tricked them!’ Because, you know, when you get to be in stuff with your friend you kind of can’t believe it.

“Years ago, when I was young and vibrant, I flashed [Chris Parnell] my boobs on my birthday. It was right before I started SNL, and I was drinking so much tequila that I flashed him my boobs at a party at my house. The next day he called me, and he left this message: ‘Hello, Maya, this is Chris Parnell. I want to say thank you very much for showing me your boobs last night. I appreciate it.’ It’s probably my favorite message I’ve ever received. It was so fucking funny.”

Happy Birthday Maya Rudolph!

USA Today: Any other dreams for the baby?
Amy Poehler: I don't care if it's a girl or a boy, I want it to marry Alice Richmond, Tina [Fey]'s daughter. We'd make a lovely mother and mother-in-law of the bride.

“I was so happy. Weirdly, I remember thinking, ‘My friend is here! My friend is here!’ Even though things had been going great for me at the show, with Amy there, I felt less alone.” | Tina Fey on Amy Poehler joining SNL

INTERVIEWER: Give me one of your purely satisfying mean moments. TINA FEY: The first thing that comes to mind is a more recent one, when Amy Poehler and I were in the airport last week in Toronto and we were getting hassled by this middle-aged businessman who was doing that thing that middle-aged businessmen do, being rude. And then Amy, in the middle of the airport, screamed, “Fuck you, you fuckin’ dick, you fuckin’ rich asshole.” And it was so satisfying—it was immediate release. She would probably be mortified that I told you. (x)
